“Why Me?”
That’s not the question.
Any work, any project, any opportunity starts with you. Our efforts culminate in deliverables and results for you. Finally, success will be evaluated by you and your organization.
More specifically, I will work with you, and if needed, your team and management, to define your business opportunity and objectives, as precisely as we can, producing a focused opportunity statement. We will evaluate the current situation and needs. For communications and content initiatives, we define audience(s), and will envision what success looks like to you and your business.

Seriously: Why me and why LaurelComms?
Experience:
I apply experience gained in more than 25 years as a professional reporter, communicator, writer, editor, marketer, publisher and business developer. I also bring a technical skill set that includes editing, writing, planning, packaging, and project, budget and business management. I combine storytelling and strategy. I use quality management tools and techniques (Plan-Do-Check-Act; 5 Why’s), and models and practical processes for alignment, efficiency and effectiveness.
Expertise:
I know the issues and challenges of business technology, information and cybersecurity, corporate cultures and organizational milestones—that’s where I’ve worked, served and led, in for-profit and non-profit organizations, large-to-small. So, these areas are my primary focus for LaurelComms. I also know that work, and working relationships, require a honed soft-skill set. My professional development includes problem solving, critical thinking, strategic planning and emotional intelligence coursework. Further, I practice active listening and appreciative inquiry, and excel in collaboration and teamwork, and mentoring.

About Me
Laurel Nelson-Rowe is founder and principal of LaurelComms, LLC, where she develops and delivers exceptional communications, content and strategic counsel to organizations and individuals. A pioneer in business technology communications, content and publishing, Laurel brings curiosity, creativity, precision, strategy and quality to every storytelling opportunity and project. Her work focuses on business trends, technology, corporate cultures and organizational milestones.
Among the first journalists to cover the development and commercial growth of the Internet. Laurel’s career spans roles in communications, marketing, publishing, business development and association management. She received reporting, publishing and milestone event awards. Laurel conceived and executed ground-breaking research, benchmark and communications portfolios: ASQ’s The Culture of Quality, and The Global State of Quality, and ISACA-CMMI’s The Culture of Cybersecurity. She developed content and business advisory relationships globally with Fortune 500 firms; delivered multimedia programs for UN agencies and global associations; and distilled techno speak into enterprise business value. She writes, edits and conveys the strategic importance of every type of communications asset–abstracts to press releases, talking points to white papers, and everything in-between.
While business trends, tech and corporate culture are constants throughout her career, and are LaurelComms’s strategic focal points, she seeks out projects that will achieve positive potential and impact. Her current blog work appears on the American Express Credit Intel channel and she’s a senior content strategist, brand consultant and copywriter in project work with Perficient, Inc. Laurel’s clients value the focus, imagination, persistence and subject matter expertise consistently evident in the work and deliverables. Laurel’s advisory services combine candor, innovation, inspiration and practical plans.
When she’s not in her home office or client locations, Laurel enjoys varied pursuits. She’s a multitasker, baking while watching Green Bay Packers’ games. She’s balanced, whether practicing yoga or crossing 5K finish lines along Lake Michigan. She is also invested in her hometown Milwaukee, WI, USA, attending cultural, professional opportunities, and especially to her grandkids’ joyful activities.
